Austrian Benedictine Abbey, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site

Melk is a district town in Lower Austria. It lies on the Danube River, on the western border of the Wachau Valley, at an altitude of 213 m. Its dominant building is the Melk Monastery on a hill above the town.
In addition to the Baroque, originally Romanesque Benedictine monastery, the town has a number of other monuments.
