Maribor 
Maribor (Marburg an der Drau in German) is the second largest city in Slovenia. It is the university, economic, financial, cultural and tourist center of northeastern Slovenia. It is an important traffic intersection. The city lies at the foot of the Pohorje massif, at its eastern end. The river Dráva flows through it, which enters a wide valley here (Dravska dolina in Slovenian). In 2000, Maribor won the Alpine City of the Year award.
